Today’s bento is brought to you by the letters ‘B’ and ‘P’. I was making it this morning and went to the fridge to grab the tomatoes. Buddy saw me and immediately got frantic, “BUDDY DO! BUDDY DO!!!!!” He started wailing when I picked them out and washed them because he had wanted to choose them. Since he doesn’t know a firm tomato from a football, I was unable to accomodate his wishes.

Instead, I let him put the tomatoes into the bento, which worked like a charm in getting him to stop screaming. I swear, the kid can turn the tantrum on and off like a light switch. So anyway, this one was done by Buddy and Pikko. I’m one proud bento mama today!

This is tonkatsu from a few days ago. I had no bento yesterday because I had a lunch meeting at The Willows. The place was a ghost town, it was scary. Don’t people eat lunch out anymore?? I especially liked the roast turkey and prime rib. I wish I’d skipped the fish and chicken long rice and gotten more turkey.

Anyway, tonkatsu with furikake rice and green beans and Buddy’s tomatoes. The wedding is this Sunday and I have no idea how much I weigh, but I tried on the SIZE SIX dress last night and I fit just fine (awesome), so that is really all I care about at this point. I’ve got my shoes, my bra, and my dress. I just need to find some nice wedding appropriate earrings, a matching sweater to keep warm, and pantyhose and then I’m all set.

Mr. Pikko and I will be watching UFC 84 in Kona this Saturday. GO GO BJ!

Last night we had my niece’s top choice for dinner, turkey croquette. It’s something relatively new on my MIL’s menu, popping up maybe 1-2 years ago. It’s very yummy! I think she puts oyster sauce or something in it, whatever it is, there’s no need for ketchup or any other kind of condiment unlike corned beef hash. Since it consists of potatoes, ground turkey, and panko I count this patty as just one point for the panko.

I took this all in one photo because I knew it would turn out bad and I didn’t want to have two shameful pictures to display today. Lately whenever I take pictures in a yellow bento box or a pink bento box the picture looks really bad. Not sure what I’m doing different as my Princess Bonbon bento and Fried Ahi Poke pictures came out great.

I cut up the patty to display it better and made an onigiri bear with a mold that my Aunty K sent to me. (thank you!) I laid half a red bell pepper on top of it for color and veggies. In the bottom layer I have 1/4 an egg salad sandwich. I made this because I had the boiled egg leftover from yesterday’s bento (which only contained 2 slices of egg). I had a whole 1/2 sandwich, but the kids saw me making it and busted out the protest signs until I gave them each a piece. Still, it worked out as I was able to put in more veggies and some green grapes we bought at Costco.

Speaking of Costco, I dunno if people have noticed this, but almost everything there is about $2 more expensive than it used to be. The romaine lettuce that used to be $3.49 is now $5.49, the bell peppers which used to be $4.99 is now $6.99, the milk which used to be $3.79 is now $4.99, the Honey Bunches of Oats looks like a smaller box, used to be $4.59 is now $6.49, etc. The prices on tons of things are going way up so be sure to be careful what you are buying there now as it’s definitely NOT the price bargain place it used to be. I’ve only noticed this in the last month or so, but it sucks nonetheless.

Anyway, overall the lunch I count as 4 points. 1 for the panko, 2 for the onigiri, and 1 for the bread (half a slice). I have some Miracle Whip Light in the egg salad but it’s so little bit it wouldn’t add up to anything at all. (about 1/2 tsp)

I had wanted to do a Harry Potter bento for bentochallenge but I just haven’t felt the inspiration and last night I was bummed out over something so I ended up just watching King Kong and doing my bento this morning. I am definitely getting better at that by the way. We still end up late, but not as bad as before. Yay?

This is some pot roast pork leftover from dinner last night along with a bit of rice, some poke, and green beans. 3 points for this lunch: 1 for the rice and 2 for the meat since I couldn’t get all the fat to come off. My bottom layer is here:

Tofu cubes and some shelled edamame. The last time I had tofu cubes my buddy Exodus made a comment, “Oh, tofu cubes, neat. What’s it made of?” LOL! You crack me up, cheese man! I’m not really feeling all that wordy today, so I’m just postin’ the lunch and gonna hele on out to frolic on the internets while I do work.

Hopefully I’ll have bon dance and garden pics this weekend!
