I heard a really cute joke last week on Leahey and Leahey Live that I forgot to tell.

What did the rice say to the spam?

Let’s get nori.

LOL!! OMG, I think that joke is so cute. I guess you’d have to either be from Hawaii or love spam musubis to get it, but I find it hilarious!

My weekend was okay, nothing much happened, but it wasn’t completely boring either. I got a good amount of moat carps turned in (92!) which put me at around 3,400 for my Lu Shang’s Fishing Rod in game. Girl’s Day is coming up soon and so I have to think about what to do for that bento. I think a pretty bento for Baby Girl is in order! I’ll definitely have to do the pink sakura tamago again!

I bought a new kind of salad I from Costco on Saturday which was a shrimp salad with tomatoes in it. All it really has is shrimp with celery and mayo so it didn’t have much taste so I ate a lot of it with cocktail sauce. It was a $13 salad and contained massive amounts of shrimp. I ate this for two days straight and then used some for this Ebi Curry Noodle pack that I had forgotten I still had in the freezer. I washed the mayo off to fry it for this noodle dish though. I fried some asparagus so that I have more veggies and don’t waste the pack that I bought.

This is the box I used today. It was a gift to Baby Girl from her teacher at school. Which reminds me, still no Hello Kitty Online access!! I got some e-mail saying I have to make a video explaining why I should get into beta. I made one, then went back to check the tutorial on how to add tags, and the tutorial opened in the tab I created the video in, erasing it. MAN I was pissed!! I still haven’t made another one yet…

I’ve got a big round Pooh tupperware full of fruit to go with today’s lunch. Baby Girl nagged her way into me buying a tub of tropical fruit, so I’ve got watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple in here to help us not waste it all. I also bought strawberries and raspberries again. I still have like 10 kiwis left to eat too, gah!! And danjou pears… and apples… and oranges… and blueberries… When it rains it pours!

I went to cut my hair on Saturday and was pretty bored so decided to get some highlights. I’ve never colored my hair before and am pretty happy with the way it looks. Mebbe next time I’ll dye my hair dark red or something. Next week marks 6 weeks with my piercings, so I can go out and buy earrings this week!! 😀

My bridesmaid dress came in and it’s a size 12… I have to exchange it for 6 or 8. How fun is that?!? 😀 A year ago I’d have fit in that dress!!

A couple days ago I found out that one of my favorite “secondary” TV shows, The 4400, had been cancelled. This severely pissed me off as it had been in my opinion, one of the best shows on USA. Granted, it was also the ONLY show I watched on USA, but that’s neither here nor there. The theme song by Amanda Abizaid is my cell phone ringtone. It’s a great lil tune!

So anyway, yeah, I’m mad. Especially since this is the THIRD good, quality show that has been cancelled in the past year. (the second being Journeyman) However, I was happy to find out that there is a movement to save the show, much like the one that successfully saved Jericho. If I’d had my way I would have picked The 4400 over Jericho hands down. You can buy sunflower seeds to send to the network to protest the cancellation. It’s 5 bucks though… so I’m still debating. lol Some fan I am.

For lunch today I am having beef curry rice with curry croquette. I plucked out the carrot slices and cut them into flowers with my veggie cutter and then shoved the leftover carrots underneath. The flowers are a little thick, but I didn’t have time to slice them up. I had fried two croquettes, but burned the first one by accident… It wouldn’t have fit in the bento box anyway!!

My ear has become a mess. I’ve got this bumpy rash all over it and I totally blame my little eye makeup remover snafu. I can’t even tell if it’s swollen because all I can think about is how badly it itches. If the rash doesn’t clear up soon, I’m definitely going to see my dermatologist.

Wow!! It looks like I will be hitting 30k visitors very very soon!! I think to celebrate I will give away another bento box. 😀 I’m not sure which one it’ll be, I guess I’ll just let the winner pick from the Hello Kitty ones I have left or some of the newer 2 tier ones I’ve been too lazy to put up on the store. In any case, if you’re interested in my latest drawing, email me at pikkopots at gmail.com the following info:

Name:
Address:
Your favorite bento ingredient:

If you submit this please know that I will probably eventually put up a page showcasing all of these answers. I will only include your first name and country.

In a stunning turn of events, I fell asleep early with Buddy last night so this morning instead of making a nice healthy bento I was glued to the couch trying to watch Heroes before everyone else woke up. The result is a bento of hastily prepared curry, which I just squeezed out of the bag onto some rice. I fried the croquette in about 5 minutes although it doesn’t look very appetizing because obviously I wasn’t babysitting it while it was cooking. I always keep a thick carrot ready for slicing and shaping in the fridge so that I can make flowers really quickly. You guys already know my love for parsley decorations too.

I’ve tried to grow my own parsley but for some reason the seeds I’ve tried to plant twice don’t even germinate. I guess something is wrong with the packet I bought. Even the shiso seeds I planted didn’t sprout up! 😦

Tonight we’re meeting some old college friends for dinner, so we’ll see how good I am about restaurant food. Last week at PF Chang’s I didn’t really hold back to well!

I LOVE that people commented yesterday with COTTAGE CHEESE and THREE FOR NOTHING! lol

I have a couple of bento orders that I have been procrastinating on and will hopefully get out tomorrow. I updated my cosplay blog recently if the FFXI folks want to see an update on my costume.

I’m at home sick today but since I will be venturing out to get a safety check on my van at a place nearby, I decided to go during lunchtime so that I can still do a bento today. This morning Baby Girl was really whimpery and sad about going back to school for some reason, so I took her in to school instead of her going with Daddy. She started screaming as soon as we got to the classroom and the aide had to pry her off my leg. Hopefully it really is just the dropping off part she doesn’t like and this afternoon she’ll be all smiles again.

I mentioned that I’d bought some packet to make Ebi Curry Spaghetti (ebi meaning shrimp) and I tried it out today. I ate what didn’t fit in the box and it was pretty good!

The whole package according to the back is 2 servings at 140 calories and 1 gram of fat, which strikes me as a little odd but I guess since the serving of noodles is so small, that would be why. Whatever, something that low fat I can definitely live with!! Still, it comes out to 4 points for lunch. Not too bad, but it means I’ll have to eat a pretty strict Core dinner tonight.

It was pretty easy to make, took about I dunno 10 minutes? That was probably because I sliced and cut the carrot flowers though. As you can see, there’s broccoli to go with it. It looked pretty plain so I chopped up some carrot really fine to sprinkle on top. I have one more package in the fridge along with the rest of the shrimp, so maybe I’ll try it out on the kids this weekend. ^_^

I’d like to start off today’s post with a quote from my daughter. I had bought a pair of sunglasses while in LA so that I didn’t look like I had slits for eyes and now I wear them in the mornings to block out the sun so that I can sleep on the way in to work. (they’re way cooler than using Mr. Pikko’s black sock) On the way to dropping off the kids she likes to ask if she can use them and this morning I asked her why she needed it and her answer was simply:

“The sun is trying to kill my face!”

I can’t argue with that kind of logic, so of course I gave it up. She totally cracks me up. She starts preschool next week Wednesday so I am trying to think about whether I should base the one bento I will make for her each week on a specific day (ie every Friday) or on days when I know she’ll have a hard time with what they serve. I guess we’ll see! Should I make her one on her first day to help her cope or just let her plunge head first into school?

Yesterday we had Zippy’s frozen stuff for dinner, which never disappoints. For the first time I had their chicken curry and it was really good. I’d had their hamburger curry once before so I guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised, but I hadn’t eaten it in like 8 years so I forgot what it tasted like. I took leftovers and was at a complete loss this morning on how to dress it up. When I first started it was just boring rice and curry.

I ended up adding a cream corn croquette. This is actually the second one I fried. The first one I made the big mistake of sitting down at my comp instead of watching it and remembered the poor thing 2 threads later. But I ate the first one so it wasn’t a complete loss. After a while I thought it was still too boring so I scooped out some of the rice and added sliced sanbaizuke. It made sense because whenever we eat at Curry House (Coco Ichibanya) they include brown pickles anyway and of course this one tastes worlds better than the bitter stuff they serve there. Then I finished it off with some nori flakes and crackers from a ochazuke flavor packet.

Instead of a KCCA salad today, I packed another bento with tofu cubes and ahi shoyu poke. To add color I put in a red tomato soy sauce bottle and some chopped green onions onto the poke.

Although I’ve been cheating by eating cream cheese brownies I made Sunday, my high vegetable intake seems to be working slowly. I’m back down to 127.2 from hovering around 128.5 for the last week or so.
